A new home

On August 28, 2013 we became new home owners! After a long search and lots of hopping through hoops, we finally became home owners... We bought a nice little house in a wonderful neighborhood. Luckily there are not too many repairs that need to be done but we will spend the next few years making this house into our home.

I think that it is funny how we tried so hard in NY to get a house but it seemed so impossible but we were able to get one in a little as a few months moving down here in KY. So far being here in KY is being just great!

A long move...

We made it safe from our long 11 hour move from NY to KY. All I have to say is that so far the move has been a great one, and I suggest anyone who still is in NY to move out! When comparing things to NY everything is better here. The people are friendlier, the prices are better, and the taxes are LOWER! Once we got in to Nicholasville, I was afraid that I was going to be the only one unpacking the Truck, but luckily we had really great neighbors who helped with that. Getting around is not that hard. if you know where you are going (i.e. Nicholasville to Versailles) all you have to do is drive down Versailles RD. and then down Nicholasville RD to go back to Nicholasville. The next step is to update our license and registration on our car, which we found out today is a multi step process that you cannot do in one day or in one place, but is at least cheaper then NY.

What Apple needs to do for me to make the switch...

With my iPod Touch (3rd gen) looking like it will die soon, I have been thinking about the whole Android vs iOS thing. I like both Andoid and iOS (for the most part) butI have been  using Android ever since I had my smartphone, and now tablet. I really like Andoid but don't get me wrong there are things that I don't like about it which makes me think about switching to iOS. Apple does make good products but with there decision to lock down the iOS to the point where every iOS device looks like the others makes me kind of upset. On the other hand with Andoid being so fragmented and with the support really dependant on the device manufactures and/or carrier you have many devices which are new but will not recieve an OS update for years if not any. So what will it take for me to switch to iOS and never look back? A few simple things has to change for me to go to the Apple camp.

1. There has to be more customization to the iOS look.
I am not saying that everything needs to be open like in Android but I think it would be nice to do a few things to make my iOS device stand out from others. Once thing would be to give me a few options to change how the folders look like on the home screen. Instead of having them all look like black boxes, maybe allow me to have an option to make them a circle or look like a folder. Also why not give me the option to change the color of the folder's background? Maybe I want it to be red, or blue, or whatever. Another thing could be allow me to place my app on the homescreen where I want it rather then next to any previous app. I think Apple should look into the most popular customizations in the jailbreaking community and incorperate some of those ideas into the iOS.

2. I don't like the idea of having every app on my device placed on the homescreen.
This really bothers me. I don't like having ever app I have downloaded put on my homescreen. Why can't I have an icon on my doc that takes to me a list of all my apps (in alphabetical order or whatever order I want) then allow me to put apps that I choose on the homescreen?

3. I want to have folders with an unliminted number of apps in them.
I have a good number of games on my iPod and I have 4 folders to hold them all, and every time I want to play a game I have to remember which folder has it, or search all of them till I find it. I don't like doing this and I just want folder to have an unlimited number of apps.

So these are a few things that would make me switch from Android to iOS... and since I don't see Apple ever doing this, I guess once my iPod dies for good, my replacement device for it will be an Android.
