Holiday Rush

I cannot wait for the holidays to be over... Two main reasons for that. 1. It does not really "feel" like Christmas 2. Work is crazy...

In the past this time of year would "feel" different. I would be able to smell crisp winter in the air, I would have excitement run through me, and I would have joy in my soul. But this year is different... no crisp winter smell, no excitement, and not the same joy. I dunno what's wrong... maybe it's me getting older or watching the world get more corrupt or watching the world get more greedy?

As for work... we are getting swamped with work and we have tons of temps working to fill the orders we are getting... you would think that people would make sure that the work was getting done right... nope... people are rushing and making mistakes. which means I have to redo lots of things...  O well... It's almost over... hopefully things will get back to normal... even though I haven't been working there long enough to know what's normal.

Starting A New Job...

I am currently training to be a Kodak NexPress Operator. I will be working for ColorCentric and they pretty much hired me on the spot... Waffle JoyFinally I got a job!!!
I have been in training for about a week now... I am learning a lot and picking it up fast. There are a lot of things that I still need to learn but for the most part I have a good grasp of the job. So far the job is really good, or at least until something goes wrong... but I am learning how to fix those problems... Right now I am working 10 hour days for 5 days and a 6 hour day once a week. Starting from 6 am and ending till 5 pm or 12 pm on the 2 hour day... these hours are kicking my butt Tired and taking over my life. Hopefully my regular hours are better. But for right now I am just happy I have a job...

The big day is here...

The time now is 6:45 am and I will be getting married soon. I am not really nervous, I know that I am marring a great person! Even though I'm not nervous I did not get much sleep. I am happy with this choice, I am happy with Katie, and I know that this is the right thing to do. So this is the last of my single days... and I have no regrets!

Long time no post...

It's been a while since I posted, so I decided to make one now. First off my knees... Since returning from Tucson Arizona I have been doing physical therapy which helped only a little. The doctor I had was so focused on the PT that he did not look into anything else that could be wrong with the knees. So time ran out on my medical so I had to stop the mission. Since I was unable to return I decided to get married. It was and still is crazy getting things done for the wedding. We got almost everything done now... and now it's just another 54 days! I almost cannot believe that it is going to happen... I never thought that I would ever get married. But at least I am marring someone who I love and is wonderful... I cannot wait to start my new life with her. Well that's all for now...

Updated my portfolio site

I just finished moving my portfolio and schedule websites (http://www.carlbwade.us and http://schedule.carlbwade.us) to Google Sites. It was a long move but I'm happy with the change. There are some limits Google Sites can do but for free I cannot beat that. Plus right now I don't need anything too complex. I used iWeb hosting on freehostia. I did not like any of the iWeb templates plus customizing is really limited and I found one of Google Sites that I really liked.

Installed Ubuntu on an external Hard Drive

I have successfully installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my spare external hard drive. I tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 but after installation, running for about 5 minutes, it would crash and the screen would freeze and go black.

So how did I do it? First I booted into the live cd and found out where the external hard drive was located. I used gparted or something like that. Then I followed the install process as normal. When I got to the partition section I selected my external hard drive and when I got to the last screen I used the advanced section to install the boot loader on the external hard drive and not my computer (this will mess my computer bootup if I skipped this step which I did by mistake) I put screenshots to help people understand.
